The Independence Blue Cross Foundation's STOP initiative increases awareness and access to effective community-based opioid treatment and prevention. The STOP initiative will expand outcome- and evidence-based programs and community resources, identify the barriers to treatment and prevention, and disseminate effective community-based strategies and education around this public health epidemic.
STOP aims to address the opioid epidemic through the following activities:
Help prevent prescription drug abuse by disposing of unused prescription drugs. There are more than 100 prescription drug take-back locations in the five-county region where you can safely and properly discard medication.
Facing Addiction in America: The Surgeon General's Report on Alcohol, Drugs, and Health addresses substance use disorders and the wider range of health problems and consequences related to alcohol and drug misuse in the United States.
